Its original German title is
Nosferatu, eine Symphonie des Grauens ("Nosferatu, a Symphony of Horror"). Shot in 1921 and released in 1922, the film is in essence an unauthorised adaptation of Bram Stoker's Dracula, but with names and other details changed because the studio could not obtain the rights to the novel (eg, "vampire" became "Nosferatu", and Count Dracula became Count Orlok).
